What inspired it
Written from anger and grief over gun violence and the hypocrisy of a society that claims to protect life while abandoning children in classrooms. The artwork says it directly - the Statue of Liberty holding an assault rifle, standing on a pile of children's bodies. The Second Amendment has made that symbol untouchable even as children are buried. The criticism extends beyond domestic borders - children dying in Gaza, in conflict zones sustained by American foreign policy, are part of the same silence. Liberty has a body count.
Production story
A duet written in B flat minor at 121 BPM, Children of the Storm was built around a chant-like chorus - 'Liba' functioning as a prayer and a demand simultaneously. The pre-chorus percussion pattern drives urgency before the chorus releases into liberation. Pedro Pardal's drums and Han Jun Ryu's electric guitar create the storm the title promises. Vocal harmonies from Ally Rozario and Hyunju Lee elevate the unity the song demands. Mixed by Yago Marques and mastered in Dolby Atmos by Luciano Vassão as an Apple Digital Master.
